What's Up with Ocean Acidification??

Ocean acidification is a new topic that is popping up on the internet lately. So why don't we get down to the basics of ocean acidification?
Ocean acidification is when nature's oceans absorb carbon dioxide and gain hydrogen ions. This makes the ocean have a lower pH and they become more acidic. Now many will wonder, "Well why is that a problem?" The ecosystem is designed to handle a specific pH and when that balance is disrupted, many organisms can die and have their lives interrupted. Many echinoderms lose their shells and this causes them to have no way to live. Many fish are also disrupted. This makes ocean acidification a major issue that needs to be addressed.
Global warming is a topic that most people pay attention too, and many think that there is correlation between the 2. Well I wanted to find out and this leads me into my scientific journey!

  1. Spectacular job this year. Considering all of the design and redesign issues, the broken equipment, and the amount of time invested, you really performed well. You need to persue research in high school, even if you don't next year.
